Trump Tells Sean Hannity That The Taliban, Which Formed In The Early 90s, Has Been “Fighting For A Thousand Years”

Oh my God. He's serious.

With things falling apart in Afghanistan as we speak, you can bet your bottom dollar that disgraced former President Donald Trump is doing everything he can to suck up as much attention as he can.

This week, on the heels of the withdraw of United States troops from Afghanistan, the Taliban was successful in seizing the Presidential Palace and effectively overtook the country’s government — unsurprisingly leaving a path of death and destruction in their wake. Almost immediately upon hearing the news, Donald Trump pushed out one of his infamous “official” statements, not only blaming President Biden for the situation but publicly calling for his resignation. Of course, he didn’t include in that statement that withdrawing US troops from the Middle East was HIS campaign promise, one that Biden simply followed through on. A fact that Trump and the RNC both quickly scrubbed from their websites as the Taliban news broke.

Now, he’s milking this catastrophe for everything it’s worth with an appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News segment tonight.

Donald Trump gave an “exclusive interview” with his long-time Fox News pal this evening and it was, as you’d surely expect, chock full of nothing but rants and raves about Democrats, President Biden, and the Taliban.

However, much like pretty much all of his other rants, he didn’t actually know what he was talking about for much of any of it.

At one point in the exclusive Hannity interview, Trump began to sound off about the Taliban, only to completely muck up how long the radical Islamist movement has even been in existence.

Trump began to seemingly almost praise members of the Taliban as “good fighters” before adding, “they’ve been fighting for a thousand years.”

The kicker here is, the Taliban was formed in September of 1994 — making the radical group only 27 years old. A hell of a far cry from 1,000.

This is just another solid reminder that Republicans as a whole, and especially Donald Trump, just don’t give a damn about facts. They’re going to say whatever works for them at the time, truth be damned.
