Donald Trump on Thursday once again showed us where his priorities are amid the raging pandemic, and it’s not with the American people who are suffering as another one and a half million more individuals applied for jobless benefits last week. The coronavirus is still causing havoc, but Trump wants you to know that Fox News is being mean to him over his widely panned photo-op at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. It’s all about him. It always is.
The president took to Twitter to air his grievances, saying that a Fox News commentator “ripped me with lies, with nobody defending,” and said the Bible he was holding was not upside down — because that’s the most important thing going on in the country right now.
A @FoxNews commentator just ripped me with lies, with nobody defending. They talked about the “friendly” protesters (they set the Church on fire the day before. They were anything but friendly), and how I stood and held the Bible upside down – it wasn’t upside down. @edhenry

Since he brought up the Bible, the Lincoln Project reminded Trump that he can’t name one verse in the Holy Book.
What’s upside down is you say the Bible is your favorite book, but you can’t name one Bible verse. pic.twitter.com/pZRTRr8n1B

While it appears to be true that the president wasn’t holding the Bible upside down, it’s also true that he permitted law enforcement to flash-bang and tear-gas peaceful protesters to clear the path for him to stage his photo-op. And the protesters that Trump attacked were not the same ones that vandalized the church the previous night.
The president is crying on Twitter while Americans are dying from the pandemic he failed to address when he first learned of the looming threat. And even now, Trump acts as if the pandemic no longer exists. Instead, he’s concerned that a Fox News commentator won’t massage his fragile but massive ego. Trump is melting down, but not because Americans are in pain.
