To be a fly on Pence's head right now...

Outgoing Vice President Mike Pence announced just after 3:40 a.m. Thursday that President-elect Joe Biden had won the presidency after Congress finally completed the counting of the Electoral College votes following a day of mayhem by Trump-supporting insurrectionists that stormed the Capitol to halt the process. Pence performed his duties in what was supposed to be a mostly ceremonial event, but that angered the outgoing president.

Bloomberg News reporter Saleha Mohsin writes that Trump contacted Pence just before he instructed his supporters to go to the Capitol, which resulted in violence. Trump reportedly used vulgar language during the phone call.

Following the phone call, Donald Trump banned Pence’s chief of staff Marc Short from the White House. And we all know what happened next.

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) told Tulsa World that there were “at least” 1,000 insurrectionists in the Capitol building. He also said that he had “never seen” Vice President Pence as angry as he had been while Trump called on him to block the certification of the 2020 presidential election results in Congress.

“I’ve known Mike Pence forever,” Inhofe said Tuesday night. “I’ve never seen Pence as angry as he was today.”

“I had a long conversation with him,” Inhofe said. “He said, ‘After all the things I’ve done for (Trump).’”

Well, see, Pence isn’t supposed to do the president’s illegal bidding. Those comments were made before the rioters seized the Capitol, resulting in a QAnon supporter getting shot and killed. We’re wondering how Pence feels now if he was angry before the riots ensued. In total, four people died and 52 were arrested, Washington D.C.’s police chief said after Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday to stop Congress from certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory, Reuters reports.

And then there’s this:

A senior Republican senator told White House Counsel Pat Cipollone that the Cabinet should consider removing Trump by invoking the 25th amendment if he doesn’t stop inciting violence, a person familiar with the matter said. And some Republican lawmakers have discussed the possibility of impeaching Trump — a move that could prevent him from seeking public office again — though as of now the effort doesn’t appear serious.

The police basically allowed the mob to enter the premises and escorted them out after the traitors to our republic seized the building. And y’all know what would have happened if they were Black Americans. Somehow, this country will heal, but it’s going to take some time and some badly needed changes so that this never happens again.
