He really doesn't care.

Donald Trump somehow still believes the coronavirus pandemic is “under control” in the United States and completely shrugged off the rising death toll in a stunning and devastating interview with Jonathan Swan.

The interview, which aired on HBO, covered a wide range of topics but Trump really went down in flames when the subject of the pandemic came up.

Thus far, nearly 156,000 Americans are dead and over 4.5 million are infected. The economy is in shambles and most of the world has barred travelers from the United States. In addition, The pandemic only stands to get worse if Trump has his way and schools across the nation reopen.

Trump could have prevented this calamity by taking the proper steps as advised by health experts such as Dr. Anthony Fauci instead of politicizing it and turning it into a culture war.

Swan pointed that out during the interview.

“Here’s the question: I’ve covered you for a long time, I’ve gone to your rallies, I’ve talked to your people. They love you, they listen to you, they listen to every word you say…they don’t listen to me or the media or Fauci, they think we’re fake news. They want to get their advice from you,” Swan said. “And so when they hear you say, ‘Everything’s under control, don’t worry about wearing masks,’ these are people, many of them are older people.”

“What’s the definition of control?” Trump asked

“It’s giving them a false sense of security,” Swan replied.

Once again, Trump denied reality.

“Right now, I think it’s under control,” he said.

“How? 1,000 Americans are dying a day,” Swan reminded him.

In response, Trump’s lack of compassion was beyond evident.

“They are dying, that’s true. And it is what it is,” Trump said. “But that doesn’t mean we aren’t doing everything we can, it’s under control as much as we can control it.”

Here’s the video:

This is a flippant reaction from Trump that proves he doesn’t care about Americans who are dying from coronavirus. This pandemic is not even close to being “under control” here. Tens of thousands are being infected every day and the death toll just continues to rise. And Trump is only making it worse by denying how bad it is.
