Trump Whines About Getting Tough Questions From Two Female Journalists, Suggests They Should Act More Like ’50s Houswives: “It Wasn’t Donna Reed, I Can Tell You That”

He just can't stop himself from singling out and insulting female journalists.

President Donald Trump can’t stand female journalists who ask him tough questions, and if he had his way, they would be like his view of 1950s housewives.

Over the course of the many coronavirus press briefings Trump held in the White House for the last two months, he frequently attacked female reporters who challenged him, even telling CBS reporter Weijia Jiang at one point to “relax” after she asked a hard-hitting question.

Likewise, Trump often attacked CBS reporter Paula Reid as well for daring to do her job by putting him on the spot.

Well, Trump was asked about his scraps with reporters by the New York Post and he singled out both women and suggested they should act like what he considers to be docile submissive housewives from the 1950s.

Seriously.

‘It wasn’t Donna Reed, I can tell you that,’ Trump said, referring to the film and TV star best known for playing Mary Bailey in ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ and later starring as the mom in an eponymous family TV sitcom of the ’50s and ’60s.

‘Paula Reid, she’s sitting there and I say, “How angry. I mean, What’s the purpose?” They’re not even tough questions, but you see the attitude of these people, it’s like incredible.

‘So you know, I enjoyed it,’ Trump concluded.”

In addition to his sexism toward female reporters, Trump bragged about his ratings again as the country continues to reel because of the pandemic.

“We set every record with those press conferences. Six million people all the time. You know we had tremendous numbers, literally,” Trump gloated. “I heard, is this true? It was the highest-rated hour in cable television history. That’s what I heard. I don’t know if that’s true.”

Women have proven time and time again that they are great journalists who deserve respect. But Trump just demonstrated that he has zero respect for them.

It’s not the 1950s anymore and the stereotypical housewife presented on 1950s television and in films is largely inaccurate. It’s a male fantasy that continues to hurt women to this day and it’s disgraceful that Trump is perpetuating that stereotype to attack professional women at the top of their game just because he doesn’t like being asked tough questions.
