Trump Whines About Supreme Court Ruling That He Needs To Turn Over His Taxes: “No President Has Ever Had To Go Through This”

Hiding something, Mr. President?

One of Donald Trump’s campaign promises was that he would release his tax returns, but now that he’s the president, he has refused to do so. The president is having a very rough day after being beaten down last night at the Democratic National convention by his predecessor. And then, on Thursday morning, Steve Bannon — the architect of Trump’s 2016 win — was arrested for defrauding border wall donors. Also on Thursday, a federal judge cleared the way for Manhattan’s top prosecutor to get Trump’s tax returns, rejecting a last-ditch attempt by the president’s lawyers to block a subpoena issued to his accounting firm.

Trump reacted to that when confronted by a reporter at the White House, and of course, it turned into a whine-fest.

“The Supreme Court shouldn’t have allowed this to happen,” Trump insisted, adding that “No president has ever had to go through this.”

Watch:

Here’s a clip released last year showing the number of times Trump vowed to release his taxes:

Well, gee. Most former presidents haven’t gone through this because they released their tax documents to the public. In fact, Trump was the first major-party nominee since 1976, not to make his tax returns public. Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton released eight years of tax data to the public in 2015. And, by the way, she’s not the one being locked up — but, many of Trump’s allies have been. Former President Barack Obama released seven years’ worth of his tax returns during his 2008 presidential campaign.

We’re not sure what President Grifty McGriferson is hiding, but it’s almost as if he’s not the billionaire he has claimed to be, and instead, the former reality show star may be drowning in debt. Trump would burn this country to the ground if he had to hide his financial records from the world. There’s something in there that he doesn’t want the rest of us to see.
