The U.S. Office of Special Counsel has informed U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-NJ) that it is pursuing a federal probe into Donald Trump’s campaign using the White House and Old Executive Office Building as a campaign command center and election day war room. Pascrell filed a letter of complaint on Election Night, NJ.com reports. Members of the Trump administration have been accused repeatedly of violating the Hatch Act ever since the president took office without regard for law and order, apparently.

“I write urgently demanding an explanation of whether Donald Trump and members of the executive branch are breaking the law on Election Day. Reports suggest that Donald Trump is using space inside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building as a campaign “war room.” Additionally, Mr. Trump is expected to be briefed in the White House residence and the Oval Office throughout the day by campaign officials. These actions put executive branch officials at risk of blatant violations of the law, including the Hatch Act,” Pascrell wrote to U.S. Special Counsel Henry Kerner on November 3rd.

The Daily Beast reports:

The Hatch Act prohibits the use of federal property for campaign events. The Republican Party hosted its election convention at the White House as well, presenting not only speeches but also a naturalization ceremony presided over by acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf.

The Hatch Act used to mean something, but the Trump administration has flagrantly and publicly violated it on multiple occasions. At some point, this country needs to go to the norms and guidelines that keep the United States on a level that other countries can respect again.

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC) sent a report in 2019 to Trump that found that White House counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway violated the Hatch Act on numerous occasions by disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media. The OSC recommended her removal from federal service at that time.  But, apparently, our law and order president shrugged that off.

It looks like the presidential election will be called for Democratic nominee Joe Biden today, and suddenly for Republicans, things like the Hatch Act will be an important issue. Oh, and the Republican outrage over our country’s debt will be deafening — just after they put us in an apocalyptic economy. We will never forget or forgive the Republicans that enabled a mentally ill man as he repeatedly ran afoul of the law.
