Trump’s Day Just Got A Whole Lot Worse As Biden Reportedly Won’t Block Access To Ex-President’s Jan. 6 Records

Tick tock, Mr. Trump.

The House committee investigating the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol demanded records last month related to at least 30 members of former President Donald Trump’s inner circle. We already know that the twice-impeached one-term president played a role in the insurrection because Americans witnessed it with their own eyes, but documents may shed more light on that. Reuters reporter Jan Wolfe tweeted that an official with the Biden administration suggested that the president wouldn’t be a roadblock in the investigation.

White House official told Reuters, “Executive Branch agencies have been engaging with Congress on matters relating to January 6 for several months now and will continue to do so, including with the Select Committee.” The White House official added, “The President has been clear that the events of January 6th were an unprecedented assault on our democracy – and he believes they deserve a full investigation to determine what transpired and ensure it can never happen again.”

The two weeks are up, and that’s bad news for the former president.

Donald Trump wants executive privilege to be used to stop at least some of the documents from being transferred to the Jan. 6 committee, but that protection seems unlikely. Still, as Wolfe explains, the former president could try to slow the process down.

We all know that Trump is good at tying up lawsuits in court, so we’re sure he’ll try with the investigation, too. But everything comes out in the wash eventually. And for sure, the former president is acting guilty, and that’s not a good look for someone that claims he hasn’t done anything wrong.
