Part of our job here is to know something about the subject we’re writing about, but admittedly, after watching Trump defense attorney Bruce Castor Jr. talk during the Senate impeachment trial, I’ve got nothing. He’s just not making any sense, but he’s perfect for that person, woman, man, camera, TV guy. As Dan Rather put it, “I’ve seen more clarity in a mud puddle.”
It was also stunning that Trump’s attorney doesn’t seem to understand what the 14th Amendment is about. Hint: it contains the word insurrection.
This just in: trumps lawyer thinks the 14th amendment is only for confederate soldiers and they must be tried in court before….

…being tried in court

Castor just read the 14th amendment and completely proved the argument.
So, thanks for that I guess

Bruce Castor just made the case for the prosecution: “It doesn’t take a historical scholar to know that the 14th amendment was written for the Confederacy.”

I don’t even know what to make of this:
Bruce Castor. Verbatim:
“I saw a headline, ‘representative so and so seeks to walk back comments about’— I forget what it was. Something that bothered her. I was devastated when I saw that she thought it was necessary to go on television yesterday or the day before.”

What fresh hell is this?
I challenge you to make sense of what Bruce Castor is trying to say here. This is like the worst college lecture of all time. pic.twitter.com/x7rHNjYByT

The Internet had some thoughts.
Bruce Castor: The American people have spoken and they changed administrations and didn’t re-elect Donald Trump.
Donald Trump: I was re-elected in 2020 but the election was stolen from me.
What a mess.

Surprising since Bruce Castor received a law degree from the prestigious University of Four Seasons Total Landscaping School of Law. https://t.co/mLFphmPtMt

Who is playing Bruce Castor on SNL?

So the Bruce Castor defense is to talk about how the people voted in a new president so we’ll all understand that Trump was lying the whole time?
3-D chess, guys.#ImpeachmentTrial

Inherent in Bruce Castor’s argument is that he is admitting 2020 was a free and fair election.

It’s almost like really top-flight lawyers weren’t eager to defend Donald Trump, or something.

Trump attorney Bruce Castor Jr says we’ll never hear anyone representing Trump defending the violence of Jan 6.

What a hot mess. And even with an incoherent lawyer defending the former president, Republicans still won’t vote to convict. Trump literally doesn’t have a defense.
