Trump’s New “Communications Platform” Shaping Up To Be A Big Bust, Report Claims Engagement Numbers Are Very Poor

It's a dud.

After Donald Trump was essentially deplatformed on social media following the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection he incited, he came up with an idea. The twice impeached one-term president started a big boy blog similar to Twitter, but it’s only for him and no one else. There is no way to reply to his daily list of grievances. From the Desk of Donald J. Trump, the former president’s site, which would have been better named as Pay Attention To Me — is a dud with little engagement, NBC News reports.

“A week since the unveiling, social media data suggests things are not going well,” the outlet reports. “The ex-president’s blog has drawn a considerably smaller audience than his once-powerful social media accounts, according to engagement data compiled with BuzzSumo, a social media analytics company. The data offers a hint that while Trump remains a political force, his online footprint is still dependent on returning to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.”

The numbers are really bad.

“Trump’s new blog has attracted a little over 212,000 engagements, defined as backlinks and social interactions — including likes, shares and comments — received across Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Reddit,” the report continues. “Before the ban, a single Trump tweet was typically liked and retweeted hundreds of thousands of times.”

16,000 engagements is nothing to brag about.

“The most popular shares of Trump’s new content came from conservative outlets and activists,” the report states. “The top post on the blog, in which Trump railed against the Facebook Oversight Board’s decision to uphold his Facebook ban, garnered just 16,000 engagements.”

Trump’s new blog contains posts to push baseless voter-fraud claims once again. Trump isn’t going to get his social media accounts back, in my opinion, if the former president keeps using the same rhetoric that incited the storming of the Capitol in January.  Trump also uses his blog to lash out at his critics, including any Republicans that voted to impeach him. Liz Cheney is his new favorite chew toy on the blog, and Mitt Romney was featured recently, too, in one of the former reality TV show star’s rants. What we’re saying here is that the old man hasn’t changed one bit, and he never will.
