Trump’s New Press Secretary Once Called Her Boss A Mere “Sideshow” And Said He Was “Not A Serious Candidate”

She's sucking up to him now, but that was not always the case.

Just like Donald Trump, his new White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany has a past statement or tweet for every occasion. This time, it’s not a statement that Trump will like.

McEnany was announced as Trump’s new press secretary shortly after Stephanie Grisham left the position without ever having held a single press briefing.

It didn’t take long for McEnany’s past remarks to come back to haunt her, including that time she falsely accused former President Barack Obama of playing golf after Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was beheaded by terrorists. Of course, that beheading happened in 2002 when Obama was serving as an Illinois state senator.

But it turns out McEnany had an opinion about Donald Trump as well that maybe he hasn’t heard yet.

As he ran for president in 2015, Trump made several outrageous remarks much as he does now. Only back then, McEnany had enough decency to call Trump for what he is — a “sideshow” who just brags about how rich he is.

McEnany made the remarks during an appearance on CNN to discuss Trump’s poll numbers, which she dismissed.

“Donald Trump has shown himself to be a showman. I don’t think he’s a serious candidate,” she said. “It’s a sideshow. It’s not within the mainstream of candidates. I’m here to tell you he’s not going to be anywhere near the top 5. He made that pretty clear when the most important thing he said in his speech was ‘I am rich, I am rich’ repeatedly.”

It doesn’t sound like Trump is going to be very thrilled about that past statement coming back to the forefront. But McEnany has since kissed his a** so much that the imprints of her lips can be easily matched by forensics at this point. It’s going to be a long few months in the White House press room if her past remarks continue to be thrown in her face.
