As I’m sure you’ve noticed, Donald Trump has had a hell of a time hanging on to any of his friends or allies since leaving the White House over a month ago.

Don’t get me wrong, his base is still as rabid and deplorable as ever, but they’re nothing more than average Joes with 9 to 5-ers and marital problems. When it comes to the people that matter — the world leaders and government officials and notable names within the Republican Party — the love for now-former President Donald Trump is waning, and fast.

Just recently, the former Prime Minister of Australia spoke out against the former president due to his erratic and ridiculous behavior following President Joe Biden’s inauguration. And now, it’s hitting even closer to home for Mar-a-Lago’s newest resident.

In a bombshell story that aired exclusively on VICE on Showtime at 8 p.m. on Sunday March 14, Donald Trump’s former Acting Secretary of Defense under the Trump administration, Chris Miller, spoke out and admitted that he feels like the former president’s speech on the morning of the January 6th Capitol attack played a large part in igniting the ultimately deadly riot.

“…would anybody have marched on the Capitol, and tried to overrun the Capitol, without the President’s speech?” Miller asks before going on to add that it is “pretty much definitive” that the violence that took place at the beginning of this year would not have happened if Donald Trump hadn’t spoken.

“It seems cause and effect,” Miller states. “The question is, did he know he was enraging people to do that? I don’t know.”

Miller himself found himself on the receiving end of plenty of criticism surrounding the attacks when some claimed that the Department of Defense waited far too long to deploy the National Guard in their own response to the deadly attack. However, Miller claims that the response time was fairly standard.

“It comes back to understanding how the military works—this isn’t a video game, it’s not Black Ops Call of Duty,” Miller stated.
