Fox News’s Tucker Carlson tweeted out a clip of an upcoming special called ‘Patriot Purge’ in which he completely reinvents what took place on Jan. 6 when a mob of Trump supporters seized the U.S. Capitol. The clip suggests that the deadly insurrection was a “false flag,” and it’s littered with outright lies that would make conspiracy theorist Alex Jones blush.
The trailer opens with the words “The true story behind 1/6 The War on Terror 2.0 and the plot against the people” splashed across the screen. And actually, most of us have already seen what took place in real-time and in the videos that were released since then, but Tucker wants to frame the attempted coup as if Trump supporters are the real victims.
“The domestic war on terror is here,” one person says. “It’s coming after half of the country.” Carlson weighs in to say,” The helicopters have left Afghanistan, and now they’ve landed here at home.”
“The left is hunting the right, sticking them in Guantanamo Bay,” an individual says, “for American citizens, leaving them there to rot.”
“We are dealing with an insurgency in the United States,” another person says in the clip. Then, for some unexplainable reason, it features a clip of President Joe Biden calling white supremacy “the most lethal threat” with footage of the Ku Klux Klan marching down a street.

That’s when Jan. 6 is insanely labeled as a false flag with a person saying, “False flags have happened in this country. One of which may have been Jan. 6.” The “Battle Hymn of the Republic” dramatically plays at the end.

Literally, and I do mean literally, everything in Carlson’s clip is a lie. Rioters are not in Guantanamo, patriots are not rioters, half the country is not being targeted, it was not a false flag, and Carlson is spinning dangerous propaganda. As far as the clip of the KKK, maybe Carlson just identifies with them.
