Fox News’s Tucker Carlson tells many lies on his show, his commentaries, and his writings. Carlson excels at whipping the right-wing into a frenzy with manufactured outrage. In this case, it’s with teachers, and conservatives seem to detest schools and universities. Carlson grew up in a highly privileged family, was afforded a nice education in a boarding school, and graduated from Trinity College. Still, he blasted and demeaned his first-grade teacher. And that was a shock to her when The Washington Post tracked her down. You would think that Carlson wouldn’t go with a lie that can be easily disproven, but he did, according to the report.

“He attended the elite La Jolla Country Day School, where a woman entered his life whom he grew to detest,” the report states. ‘It was his first-grade teacher, whom he referred to in his book as Mrs. Raymond. He caricatured her as “a parody of earth-mother liberalism” who “wore long Indian-print skirts. . . . She had little interest in conventional academic topics, like reading and penmanship.” He recalled her sobbing theatrically at her desk, saying, “The world is so unfair! You don’t know that yet. But you’ll find out!”’

“Carlson said he just wanted liberals to “stop blubbering and teach us to read. . . . Mrs. Raymond never did teach us; my father had to hire a tutor to get me through phonics.” Thus, Carlson says, he began his sojourn as a conservative thinker, questioning the liberals who he said were all around him, exemplified by his first-grade teacher,” the outlet reports.

Well, apparently, none of that is true.

“Which is all rather shocking to Marianna Raymond, 77, who remembers Carlson as “very precious and very, very polite and sweet,” and said she had no idea until contacted recently by a Washington Post reporter, that her former student had ridiculed her as a key to understanding him,” the report continues.

“Raymond said in an interview that she never sobbed at her desk, didn’t wear an Indian skirt and didn’t advocate her political views,” the outlet reports. “She said that not only did she teach Carlson reading at La Jolla Country Day School — with a student body that was “very affluent and White” — but that she also was then hired to tutor him at his home.”

“Oh my God,” she said when informed by the Post of Carlson’s attack against her. “That is the most embellished, crazy thing I ever heard.”

So, while lashing out at the education his parents afforded to him, he said his father needed to hire a tutor, but Ms. Raymond was the tutor. He kind of left that part out for some reason. And there was no sobbing at her desk, and she didn’t wear Indian skirts or discuss her political views in the classroom. Imagine lying about your first-grade teacher. Well, I guess that’s not too shocking since he’s been lying about COVID-19 vaccines, too.
