Yet another individual has seen their comfy life turned upside down thanks to their presence at the infamous January 6th Capitol riot, as the first anniversary of that fateful day rapidly approaches.

According to new reporting from Business Insider, 47-year-old Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Roxanne Mathai has officially been fired from her department due to her involvement in the January 6th rally outside of the Capitol building, after referring to it as “the best day of my life.”

Local news publication KSAT reported yesterday that Roxanne Mathai was placed on administrative leave by her department back in January after she posted a series of photos to her Facebook page that showed her near the Capitol on January 6th.

In June, Sheriff Javier Salazar terminated Mathai from her position in the department, but the MAGA-supporting Lt. was quick to appeal his decision, arguing before an arbitrator that she was wrongfully terminated from her job for participating in a historic event, per the KSAT report.

Local CBS affiliate KENS 5 reported that Mathai argued she did not participate in the violent insurrection because she did not actually, physically enter the Capitol building.

Sheriff Salazar spoke with KSAT this week and called the Lt.’s defense of her actions “ridiculous.”

“It’s not like you’re standing there for the signing of the Declaration of Independence. That’s a historic event,” Salazar stated. “You’re there when fellow Americans lost their lives. That’s nothing to be proud of.”

Ultimately, the arbitrator on the case sided with Salazar and upheld Mathai’s termination from the department.

KSAT reports that Mathai has not been criminally charged for any involvement in the Capitol insurrection, and she has personally claimed to be unaware of the violence and bloodshed inside the government building.

The report goes on to note that, in addition to photos posted on her Facebook page showing her walking towards the Capitol building following now-ex-President Trump’s infamous “Stop the Steal” rally just outside the nation’s Capitol, Mathai wrote on her social media page, “And we are going in……in the crowd at the stairs…not inside the capitol like the others. Not catching a case lol.”

“Not gonna lie…..aside from my kids, this was, indeed, the best day of my life,” another social media post from Mathai read, according to the local report. “And it’s not over yet.”

KENS 5 reports that Mathai was an employee of the department for 8 years.

Speaking with the local outlet back in June, the former Sheriff’s Lt. said she does not regret her participation in the rally outside of the Capitol but does regret “the events that happened — the events that I had no participation in.”

Thus far, upwards of 700 individuals have been charged in connection to their participation in the January 6th Capitol siege.
