Controversial Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene unleashed a tweetstorm on Sunday to attack President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better bill and the Greene New Deal, both of which I’m sure she’s never read. Greene complained about gas prices, saying they are inflated as part of sort of plot, China, the infrastructure bill, electric cars, the Paris Climate Treaty, the swamp, vaccines, then she defended the alleged Capitol rioters. Some of the individuals charged with crimes in the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol have been held in solitary confinement while they await trial, and apparently, Marje thinks prison should be more like a spa.
Greene linked to the right-leaning pollster Rassmeusen that claimed that 58 percent of voters believe that the House committee investigating the Jan 6th riot “has weaponized its powers against innocent Americans.” Greene argued that the Jan. 6 committee is “weaponizing its powers against its political enemies.”

Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 to stop the peaceful transition of power. They went as far as to try to hunt down the vice president to hang him. Seven hundred seventy-two people have been charged for their alleged crimes on that deadly day. One hundred and forty police officers were injured. People died, and they almost killed democracy on Jan. 6. But sure, the defendants are the real victims. I can’t roll my eyes any harder.

Claims about the alleged rioters have been fact-checked before.
“The defendants were charged with crimes, not because of their political views, but because they allegedly committed violent acts or other crimes during the riot,” PolitiFact reports. “Most are not in custody while awaiting trial, but some are in jail, and some have been held in solitary confinement.”
The mob brought weapons. They were prepared to kill. The rioters are being held accountable, and apparently, that’s not a word conservatives are familiar with lately.
