WAPO Claims G7 Leaders Are Not Looking Forward To Meeting With Trump: “You Just Try To Get Through The Summit Without Any Damage”

The G7 Summit in France, where world leaders are set to meet for a weekend, is quickly approaching and it seems that diplomats from around the globe are set to attend the Summit full of apprehension at the mere idea of spending a full weekend with Donald Trump — who’s high-tailing it out of his own country as the entire globe teeters on the precipice of a recession thanks mostly to his bullshit.

According to a report from the Washington Post, the diplomats that will soon be forced to spend a large chunk of time with America’s biggest embarrassment to date plan to do their best to just “get through” the ordeal, hopefully “without any damage.”

“Like an annual holiday gathering where the main goal is to get through the day without a family explosion, one of France’s main objectives as host of this weekend’s Group of Seven summit is to minimize the chances that President Trump will blow it up,” the WaPo report reads.

It seems one of the biggest qualms of the approaching meeting is Trump’s nasty habit of trying to police how other countries handle their own affairs and economic policies in an attempt to ensure the spotlight isn’t on anyone but him, all while the state of his own country is in complete disarray.

The report stated:

“Already, Trump has shaken up the schedule, calling at the last minute for a special meeting Sunday morning to discuss the global economy. Senior administration officials said he will contrast U.S. growth with Europe’s economic doldrums and press his pro-jobs and ‘fair’ trade messages.

It is unclear how receptive the others will be to whatever thoughts Trump might offer as to how they should shift their own economic approaches. Many world leaders blame Trump’s trade war with China and his threats against Europe and Japan for a major contraction in investment and spending, and are frustrated with what they see as attempts to use weaknesses elsewhere to demand changes he thinks will benefit U.S. companies.”

One G7 diplomat spoke on Trump’s recent ordeal with the country of Greenland and Denmark’s Prime Minister, stating, “When countries like Denmark are in the firing line, you just try to get through the summit without any damage.”

Another official who wished to remain anonymous said, “Every one of these, you just hope that it ends without any problem. It just gets harder and harder.”

In addition to their concerns over Donald overly egotistical attitude, many Summit-goers are concerned about their ability to seriously discuss global climate change efforts in the presence of a world leader that has essentially completely dismissed the ideas and any policies pertaining to it.

“John Kirton, director of the G7 Research Group at the University of Toronto, said he was ‘somewhat optimistic’ that Macron could navigate dealing with an unpredictable U.S. president and perhaps even find a way to accommodate Trump on climate change,” the report stated, with a statement from Kirton reading, “Most people are serious enough to know that if you want to waste all your time and energy lecturing the president, ‘Donald, say you were wrong’… then we all fry and die.”

Another diplomat lamented, “You have to plan going into the summit that he is going to try to divide and conquer.”

We know it’s tough, but at least you only have to deal with him for a weekend.
