He's truly at rock bottom.

In the direct aftermath of the FBI search warrant raid against his Mar-a-Lago compound, former President Donald Trump is doing what anyone who just found themselves in a mountain of trouble would do, especially someone of Trump’s socioeconomic status — trying to track down the sharpest, strongest, most respectable legal team, chock full of sharks who will defend him to the death against the accusations and eventual charges lodged against him, of which now including multiple potential violations of the Espionage Act, per the search warrant document.

But, according to brutal new reporting from the Washington Post, that’s turning out to be easier said than done for the scandal-ridden ex-president, as the Post reveals, “But the answer they keep hearing is ‘no.'”

There’s no denying at this point that Donald Trump is facing down the very real possibility of criminal exposure and ultimately genuine criminal charges in connection to his decision to pack an immeasurable number of boxes to his Palm Beach estate that he now calls home during the final days of his disastrous White House term. The search warrant document and new reporting have since confirmed that those boxes were full of top-secret, confidential, and federally protected documents and materials that belonged in the care of the National Archives and Records Administration. This has led to the ex-president being the center of a brutal federal investigation, as prosecutors and investigators work to determine if Donald Trump has violated the Espionage Act, in addition to other federal laws and statutes.

Suffice it to say, he’s never needed strong legal representation more than he does now.

“Everyone is saying no,” revealed on prominent Republican attorney who spoke to the publication on the condition of anonymity to allow them to discuss confidential, sensitive matters.

Behind the closed doors of Trump Camp, Donald’s closest allies and advisors are growing panicked with regard to the current legal defense team that the former president has access to, due in large part to the fact that his band of attorneys has little to no experience with cases of this magnitude, according to two inside sources cited by the Post.

Trump’s most prominent spokesperson, Taylor Budowich, seemingly attempted to get ahead of this in a late-night statement this week, in which he publicly defended the quality of the ex-president’s current legal team, specifically pointing toward former federal prosecutors Evan Corcoran and James Trusty.

“The President’s lead counsel in relation to the raid of his home, Jim Trusty and Evan Corcoran, have decades of prosecutorial experience and have litigated some of the most complex cases in American history,” Budowich said in his statement. “President Trump is represented by some of the strongest attorneys in the country, and any suggestion otherwise is only driven by envy.”

One prominent Florida defense attorney who famously worked as a Watergate prosecutor, Jon Sale, recently turned down a request from the former president to serve on his legal defense team. Sale explained that he simply does not have the time to dedicate himself to the ex-president’s case, saying, “the Trump team needs a first-rate, highly experienced federal criminal practitioner.”

“You have to evaluate whether you want to take it,” he added. “It’s not like a DUI. It’s representing the former president of the United States — and maybe the next one — in what’s one of the highest-visibility cases ever.”

Typically speaking, the chance to represent a former sitting US president would be one that most attorneys would be chomping out. However, Donald Trump’s reputation, divisiveness, and the overall complexity of his cases leave him scrambling to find anything above the level of an ambulance chaser who has their phone number plastered all over cable TV commercials.

Donald’s own former personal attorney and self-described “fixer,” Michael Cohen, recently spoke out on this matter, explaining, “In olden days, he would tell firms representing him was a benefit because they could advertise off it. Today it’s not the same. He’s also a very difficult client in that he’s always pushing the envelope, he rarely listens to sound legal advice, and he wants you to do things that are not appropriate, ethically or legally.”

Cohen was convicted on charges of tax evasion, false statements, campaign finance violations, and lying to Congress back in 2018, in connection to his relationship with Donald Trump.

Ultimately, the Post reports “Several people said Trump was nearly impossible to represent and that it would be unclear if they would ever get paid.”

One lawyer who isn’t part of Trump’s legal team said of the ex-president’s existing one, “You get these guys who just live to be around him, and mistakes get made. These guys just want to make him happy.”

It seems Donald Trump is now in the most legally vulnerable position of his life, and can’t find an attorney worth their weight in salt that’s even willing to give him the time of day.
