Yesterday, Donald Trump admitted to the public that he has been taking the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine, despite the fact that the Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning about the drug’s connection to serious heart conditions in patients with the coronavirus.

“All I can tell you is, so far I seem to be OK,” Trump stated, admitting that he’d been taking the controversial drug with the White House physician’s approval for about a week and a half.

“I get a lot of tremendously positive news on the hydroxy,” he stated before excusing his decision with one of his favorite sayings these days, “What do you have to lose?”

Trump’s announcement regarding the controversial medication was met with a slew of concern and scrutiny from various medical professionals, especially regarding the example Trump will set for the rest of the American public, considering one person has already died as a result of attempting to take the drug touted by the president, only to wrongly take a fish tank additive with a similar name.

“My concern would be that the public not hear comments about the use of hydroxychloroquine and believe that taking this drug to prevent COVID-19 infection is without hazards. In fact, there are serious hazards,” the chief academic officer of the Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Steven E. Nissen said.

However, there’s one doctor in particular that doesn’t seem to have much at all to say regarding the president’s choice to use and tout a drug that’s not only unproven but potentially dangerous.

In the latest blow to her already crumbling reputation, Dr. Deborah Birx seemed to refuse to answer reporters today when they questioned her regarding Trump’s use of hydroxychloroquine.

The Coronavirus Response Coordinator answered the reporter when she greeted her with a cheery “good morning” but quickly scurried away without much more than a peep when asked about her response to Trump’s use of the controversial drug, instead muttering something about the rain for the next three days before passing the reporters up.

It’s become pretty clear at this point whose side Dr. Birx is on. And I can tell you now, it’s not the American public’s.
