Watch As Republican Mark Meadows Walks Past Reporter Who Asks Him A Question, But Comes Back To Interrupt Her In Order To Defend Trump

Aw, did the woman reporter scare him?

One of Donald Trump’s staunchest defenders breezed past NBC News correspondent Leigh Ann Caldwell as she attempted to ask him a question while she was on-the-air, then as he heard her say Republicans were “struggling” to defend the president, he came right back to try to defend the former reality show star.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) came right back to say, “Yeah, I’m not struggling on anything, the Republicans are not struggling on anything” while his “president” is struggling with scandals and an impeachment inquiry.

Caldwell said, “So congressman, there’s one person who has testified that there’s no quid pro quo, others, many others have said that there is. So how do you justify that, how do you continue to defend the president?”

“Well, there’s more than one, there is one in terms of the deposition being released, which is Ambassador Volker’s, yesterday,” Meadows said. “And even with Ambassador Sondland, he said he doesn’t know why the aid was held up, still doesn’t know, and certainly, from that standpoint, there was no quid pro quo.”

Caldwell asked, “Big picture, is it going to be more difficult, is it getting more difficult to defend this president as more of these testimonies come out?”

Meadows said with a straight face, “No. In fact the testimony we’re hearing today, it’s actually getting easier to defend the president from a standpoint there is no linkage between aid — in fact, what we’re hearing today is this is part of a broader analysis of foreign aid in general in terms of what we should do. It wasn’t just Ukraine where the aid was held up.”

Watch:

OK, Mr. Man, but that doesn’t exactly explain why Trump admitted to a quid pro quo deal on the White House lawn with cameras rolling. Then, Trump’s chief of staff Mick Mulvaney confirmed that the next day during a bungled interview.

You don’t suppose Meadows was grumpy because he went with Trump to his Kentucky rally, then a Democrat won the race in the red state?

Republicans are all over the map, from arguing that the White House did not have an understanding with Ukraine that military aid would be held up unless Ukraine’s government launched an investigation into his rival Joe Biden’s son, to Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) suggesting that Trump is too incompetent to understand what a quid pro quo deal is. And yet, some are even suggesting that it’s not a big deal if there was a quid pro quo deal. However, the latter is exactly what launched the impeachment inquiry.
