Over the course of the past few weeks, Americans had the opportunity to watch, in real-time, as the House Intelligence Committee conducted their formal impeachment inquiry, gathering rather damning testimonies from several different witnesses with key information regarding Donald Trump’s attempted extortion and bribery of Ukraine.
Now the Intelligence Committee has officially wrapped up their investigation, released an official report of their findings, and passed the torch on to the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jerry Nadler.
Throughout the course of the Intelligence Committee’s rounds of public hearings, the Republican minority of the group did a damn good job at making complete and total asses out of themselves — from Rep. Devin Nunes making a spectacle out of alleged Trump “nudes” [photos] at every given opportunity to Jim Jordan just randomly shrieking at the top of his lungs just because he can. It was a mess.
And in case you were holding out hope that Republicans would somehow get their wits about them for this next round before the Judicial Committee, you can stop holding your breath now. Because it’s gotten even worse.

Before the hearing had even had a chance to get off the ground this morning, the GOP members of the committee were already making complete assholes out of themselves.
As the first witness, Noah Feldman, attempted to introduce himself and proceed with his testimony, one disgruntled GOP Rep. refused to even let the witness get his opening statement out of his mouth before he began loudly interrupting, trying to introduce a motion.
Even as Chairman Nadler attempted to rein things back in and give the witness the floor, GOPers were still relentless with their rude interjections — attempting to throw a wrench in the testimony before it even had a chance to get started.
Nadler was able to eventually rope things in and allow the witness to finally speak, but it’s crystal clear at this point that the Republican members of the Judicial Committee are just as desperate as their Intelligence Committee counterparts.
They know they don’t have a leg to stand on in defense of Donald Trump and the majority of his administration. So, at this point, they’re attempting to just burn the whole thing down through a series of scenes and spectacles.
I suppose they think making themselves look like complete asshats is worth maybe not going to jail if they end up implicated in Trump’s scandal, in their minds anyway.
