Watch As Witness Who Trump Attacked During Impeachment Hearing Gets Standing Ovation At Jazz Club

She's an American hero!

Last week, former Ukranian ambassador Marie Yovanovitch appeared before the House Intelligence Committee as well as the American public and bravely testified, under oath, on the abuse and atrocities she has both witnessed and been subjected to at the hands of “president” Donald Trump.

She did not behave like Republican Reps. Devin Nunes, Jim Jordan, or Elise Stefanik — creating a huge scene out of nothing but nonsense to distract from the legitimate issues at hand. She did not dissolve into hysterics, screaming and crying about the unfairness of it all like Trump/GOP-backed Supreme Court Justice and sexual assaulter/rapist Brett Kavanaugh did when he underwent public hearings.

Yovanovitch, instead, conducted herself with grace, dignity, and respect throughout the entire, long and drawn out ordeal. Even when it would’ve made sense for her to lose her cool — when the “president” was attacking her character and intimidating her as a witness in real-time, as she was forced to recall the painful events that led to the dissolution of a job she loved and was passionate about, the ousted ambassador never broke. She never showed an inkling of weakness in the face of such a trying event.

As a woman in this country, you can’t. Frat boy rapists are excused from the emotional standard to which we hold our women. But should a “girl” express her emotions, she is weak. She is broken. She’s hysterical and worthy of little more than a fainting couch and a frontal lobotomy. That’s 2019 for you, folks.

But Yovanovitch refused to be reduced to society’s standards for women. And the majority of this nation is eternally grateful to her for that.

Yovanovitch received a standing ovation when she left her deposition Friday, the first time I’ve ever heard of a witness receiving such a response in a Congressional hearing. And that gratitude and applause has followed her.

Arriving at the Blues Alley jazz club in Washington DC Sunday night, Americans once again took the opportunity to express their appreciation and love for the brave former ambassador, greeting her with another standing ovation.

Twitter user Lisa Dickey captured the display of heartfelt respect and posted it to her account with the caption, “Spontaneous ovation tonight at a DC jazz club for Marie Yovanovitch. Grateful for your courage and integrity, Ambassador!” complete with the hashtags, #Impeachment and #ImpeachTrump.

Yovanovitch can be seen smiling and waving to the crowd as some yelled out “Thank you so much!” and “We’re so grateful.”

“How could our system fail like this?” Yovanovitch asked during her hearing last week in reference to Trump’s behavior against her. “How is it that foreign corrupt interests could manipulate our government?”

You can try as you might to silence the masses against you, Donald. But it’s crystal clear that Marie Yovanovitch will not be one of your victims. And America couldn’t be more grateful to her for that.
