Former mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani wasn’t well-received when he visited his old stomping grounds to attend a fundraiser for Donald Trump. New York residents are tough and know a con when they see one, which is likely the reason Donald Trump and his family high-tailed it out of his hometown to reside permanently at his Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago. Rudy, though, has an interesting past. Giuliani was the mayor of NYC from 1994 until December 31, 2001, and garnered a reputation over how he handled the situation during and after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center.
I didn’t live far from Ground Zero at the time and remember that Giuliani seemed to be everywhere in the city after the attacks. At least that’s how I saw him. He wasn’t a bad dude at the time, and his history of prosecuting mafia figures was impressive. Sometime after that, something happened to Giuliani as he now shows disdain for the laws he once enforced.
In late 2018, Giuliani said that alleged campaign finance violations are “not a big crime” because “nobody got robbed. Nobody got killed.” He even floated pardons for Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort. There are probably dozens of examples we could give you to show that Rudy went from prosecuting the worst in society to defending the indefensible while he’s up to his bulging eyeballs in the Ukraine scandal.
As I said, New Yorkers know a con when they see one. The city’s residents saw “America’s mayor” and told him just what they think of him, and they didn’t hold back. “Hey, Giuliani, you’re a piece of shit,” one man yelled out as the former mayor was being escorted down the street by law enforcement. Another man yelled out, “You’re a fucking traitor!” Quite a few angry “fuck yous” rang out from the crowd.

At one point, Giuliani stopped and pointed at the angry crowd as if he still had some sort of authority in the Big Apple. The crowd didn’t give up; then Rudy turned with a bizarre smile on his face. As if that wasn’t odd enough, with an angry crowd around him, he pulled out his cellphone to make a phone call in the middle of the closed-off street. As one man yelled out, “You’re going to prison!” Giuliani took photos of the crowd.
Then, Giuliani, Donald Trump’s personal attorney, got in a car and left the area, leaving behind his tattered soul and a city that now hates him.
If only this would happen to Trump and everyone in his orbit, everywhere they go.
