Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wasn’t received well at the memorial service for Rep. Elijah Cummings, and we can’t say that we’re surprised. Cummings, the Chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, was so heavily involved in the impeachment inquiry of Donald Trump that he signed subpoenas and letters to the Trump administration from his hospital bed. The late Congressman literally fought for our country until the end.
In contrast, McConnell has enabled the most corrupt administration in history. Hey, but at least his party was able to gift the wealthiest with tax breaks. That’s what this is all about to the GOP. Well, that, and confirming conservative judges who are unqualified for the job.
A friend of Elijah Cummings who served as a pallbearer is seen in this clip that has gone viral, refusing to shake McConnell’s hand during a memorial service for the late congressman.
Warning: This clip is addictive. You might feel that you need to see it over and over again:

Bobby Rankin is reportedly the man at Cummings’ service who refused to shake McConnell’s
claw hand. Following the snub, McConnell is seen awkwardly turning to Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer.
McConnell eulogized Cummings during the memorial service, describing the late congressman as someone who “did not just represent Baltimore, he embodied it.”
“He celebrated its victories, sought to advocate for its needs, and worked to heal its wounds,” McConnell continued. “He knew there was only one reason why a son of sharecroppers, a child who had literally had to bear the injuries of bigotry, and segregation, could graduate from law school, and eventually chair, a powerful committee in Congress.”
“Only one reason, because principled leaders had fought to give kids like him a chance,” he added.
Trump repeatedly lashed out at Cummings on his Twitter timeline, so the “president” would not likely agree with McConnell. Trump cannot take even the slightest bit of criticism so when the impeachment inquiry was launched, the former reality show star targeted his investigators.
Cummings is the first black lawmaker to lie in state at the Capitol. McConnell is just one of the many white Republicans who are attempting to stop the impeachment of Trump, who admitted to wrongdoing on the White House lawn, and whose chief of staff confirmed that the following week.
