White House Appears To Abruptly Cancel Press Briefing After Surprising Romney Vote

Something tells me this wasn't a coincidence.

Senator Mitt Romney was the only Republican to break with his party today and vote in favor of Donald Trump’s conviction and removal from the presidency. In fact, he’s the only Senator in the history of the country to vote to impeach a president from his own party.

In his speech on the Senate floor today, Romney stated, “I knew from the outset that being tasked with judging the president, the leader of my own party, would be the most difficult decision I have ever faced. I was not wrong.”

“There’s no question in my mind that were their names not Biden, the president would never have done what he did,” he continued.

“Were I to ignore the evidence that has been presented and disregard what I believe my oath and the Constitution demands of me for the sake of a partisan end, it would, I fear, expose my character to history’s rebuke and the censure of my own conscience”

“We’ve come to different conclusions, fellow senators, but I trust we’ve all followed the dictates of our conscience,” the Senator concluded.

To say the least, his fellow GOP members were rather blindsided by Romney’s seemingly abrupt decision to vote on what they’ve deemed the Democratic side.

However, the Senators present on the Senate floor during Romney’s speech weren’t the only ones that found themselves completely shocked at his vote.

In what appears to be a direct connection to the surprise conviction vote from Romney, the White House abruptly canceled a scheduled press spray set to take place in the Oval Office this afternoon on the heels of Trump’s meeting with Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó.

The briefing was scheduled for 2:15 pm, almost exactly the same time as Romney announced his bombshell decision regarding his vote.

ABC News White House correspondent Karen Travers took to Twitter and explained that reporters were waiting on the South Lawn to be let into the Oval Office for the press pool when they were suddenly told that it was canceled.

While it hasn’t been confirmed by White House officials, and likely never will be, it’s almost guaranteed that the sudden cancellation of the event was in direct correlation with Mitt Romney’s impending vote — something Donald simply did not want to be questioned over.

Or perhaps his handlers knew that Trump wouldn’t be able to resist having a fit directly into a microphone and looking like the petty, childish little monster that he is.
