William Barr Claimed During Speech That People Who Don’t Show Respect To Cops May Not Get Police Protection

Trump’s Attorney General Bill Barr as been a questionable official, at best, since day one. His elevation to the top by none other than Donald himself was enough to lend suspicion to his ability to work for the people rather than his “boss.”

And since his appointment to Attorney General, Barr has more than proven that our trepidation at his position was well warranted.

All you have to do is think back to Barr’s handling of the Mueller report — a 440 plus page investigation report that Barr tried desperately to hide from the public and released a heavily swayed, few page “synopsis” to the public in hopes that it would shut everyone up — to realize that Bill Barr does not work for the people of America. And he never has.

But in case you’d forgotten how corrupt and downright sickening Trump’s hand-picked AG truly is amid all the other scandal going on in the country these days, Barr did us a solid recently when delivering a speech at the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service in Policing and reminded us all that he’s still as big a piece of shit as ever.

In his remarks, Barr made the claim that communities who don’t show their police force whatever arbitrary level of respect deemed necessary could potentially wind up without protection from their officers.

“But I think today, American people have to focus on something else, which is the sacrifice and the service that is given by our law enforcement officers,” Barr stated to the audience. “And they have to start showing, more than they do, the respect and support that law enforcement deserves ― and if communities don’t give that support and respect, they might find themselves without the police protection they need.”

“The Attorney General isn’t being subtle and that shouldn’t surprise us considering this administration’s record,” liberal super PAC American Bridge’s spokesperson Jeb Fain, told HuffPost in a statement, in response to Barr’s remarks. “When it comes to communities of color, he sees justice and equal protection under the law as subject to conditions.”

“Barr’s words are as revealing as they are disturbing ― flagrantly dismissive of the rights of Americans of color, disrespectful to countless law enforcement officers who work hard to serve their communities, and full of a continuing disregard for the rule of law,” Fain continued.

That’s not how that works, Bill. Like you, police officers work for the people. Regardless of how kind, well-liked, or respected they are. It’s their job. If they can’t handle that, they need to get a new one. And while we’re at it, recuse yourself, dude.
