The drama has not stopped surrounding Donald Trump’s 2024 VP running mate pick since the moment the scandal-plagued and felony-convicted former president formally announced his decision to bring far-Right Ohio Senator J.D. Vance onto his ticket.
Ever since then, there has been nothing short of an onslaught of controversy and brutal leaks surrounding the MAGA congressman — ranging from his past text messages that saw Vance trashing the man he’s now working for, calling Trump “America’s Hitler” and comparing him to opioids, to his past comments in which he referred to Democratic leadership as “childless cat ladies” and called Americans without children “deranged” and “psychotic.”
And, of course, then there are all the leaks suggesting that Trump is deeply regretting his choice in J.D. Vance and has been looking for a way to get rid of him.
Now, according to bombshell new reporting from The Bulwark, Trump and his inner circle suspect that these damning leaks are coming from one very unexpected source: Kellyanne Conway.

Bulwark’s Mark Caputo writes that nearly two dozen Trump staffers “were quick to shoot down any notion that Trump was turning his back on Vance or was displeased with him amid his rocky rollout. But more than a dozen of those sources volunteered without prompting that they believed Conway … was undermining him through leaks to the press expressing doubts about his readiness and the campaign’s vetting.”
Conway played a very large role in steering Donald Trump toward Mike Pence back in 2016, and the new report claims she was not a fan of the J.D. Vance choice this go around.
Kellyanne personally spoke with The Bulwark in connection to this report and vehemently denied being the leak inside Trump Camp: When it comes to concerned people questioning the vetting or selection of JD Vance, the calls are coming in, not going out. I’m not calling them and saying this is bad. People are asking me. They’re not just asking me. They’re asking lots of people.”
She went on to refer to the people blaming her for the leaks as “ankle biters” and “gossip girls” before adding that Trump won’t toss Vance out because “he’s loyal. He was loyal to me. He’s a loyal guy. He sticks with things. And he knows firsthand, anybody would have been attacked and anybody picked would’ve been attacked, because he’s always attacked.”
One Trump family member told the publication that “the family in general thinks very highly of Conway,” while another inside source who’s close to Donald’s son, Don Jr., said that Trump has reacted very badly to the leaks, as well as his suspicion of Kellyanne’s involvement in them: “He’s p—ed off about it. He knows it’s her.”
