Trump Implies He Hasn’t Read Melania’s New Book And Frankly, We’re Not All That Surprised

Trump hasn't read Melania's new book, but he still calls it "great."

Donald Trump just admitted he hasnā€™t bothered to crack open Melaniaā€™s new bookā€”but, of course, heā€™s still calling it ā€œgreat.ā€ Classic Trump.

During a campaign stop in Uniondale, New York, the ex-president casually mentioned his wifeā€™s upcoming memoir, Melania, which drops on October 8.

Go out and get her book. She just wrote a book. I hope she said good things aboutā€”I donā€™t know, I didnā€™t, so busy,ā€ Trump said Wednesday during a campaign speech in Uniondale, New York. ā€œShe just wrote a book called Melania. Go out and buy it. Itā€™s great. And if she says bad things about me, Iā€™ll call you all up and Iā€™ll say, ā€˜Donā€™t buy it. Get rid of it.

The kicker? If Melania threw any shade at him in the book, Trump says heā€™ll tell his fans to ditch it faster than one of his failed casinos.

This September, Donald Trump dropped his own ā€œrevealingā€ bookā€”well, at least revealing that he prefers books with pictures rather than words because it’s a picture book.Ā Shocker, right? As for Melania, itā€™s still up in the air whether sheā€™ll spill any tea on what itā€™s like being married to one of the most toxic figures around. But honestly, given that sheā€™s stuck by his side no matter how bad the optics get, donā€™t hold your breath for any real talk. Chances are, sheā€™s not about to dish out the truth anytime soon.

Melaniaā€™s book is apparently a mix of her White House years, her love for Barron (who just started at NYU), and some deep dives into the art of motherhood. Sheā€™s also defending her decision to model nude, posting a video on Instagram questioning if weā€™ve forgotten how to appreciate the human body. The video, which gives a nod to Michelangeloā€™s David, feels like Melaniaā€™s version of saying, ā€œIf you donā€™t like it, you just donā€™t get art.ā€

If Trump canā€™t even, make time to flip through his own wifeā€™s bookā€”let alone actually read itā€”what makes anyone think heā€™d prioritize the needs of an entire country? The guyā€™s so self-absorbed, he canā€™t be bothered with his wifeā€™s projects, but heā€™s quick to slap a “great” sticker on it and move on. If Melania canā€™t get more than a half-hearted plug from him, why should we believe heā€™d show up for America in any meaningful way? It’s all about him, as usual.
