During his appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, former President Donald Trump had a few things to say about the time he was on The View, and his comments left Whoopi Goldberg, a long-time panelist on the popular show, particularly unimpressed. So she decided to set him straight.
In a clip from The Joe Rogan Experience, we see a smiling Rogan say “You got introduced as our friend, Donald Trump. Whoopi Goldberg gives you a big hug and a kiss, Joy Behar gives you a big hug, Barbara Walters gives you a big hug, they all loved you,” as Trump cracks a huge smile.
At that point, Goldberg airs the clip where Trump is being introduced. Barbara Walters introduces him by saying “Donald Trump is a billionaire, a real estate mogul, and a television star. Does he really want to add President to his resume? A lot of people would like him to.”
As we all know, that tragedy really did happen and we suffered because of it. But as for giving Trump a “big hug and a kiss?” Well, nope. Goldberg placed a hand on his arm and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. That was about it.
“But did I look warm and fuzzy? Was that a warm and fuzzy look?”

The camera cuts back to the clip and we see that Whoopi is definitely NOT smiling. Her expression makes it clear that she’d rather be anywhere else. At this point, the audience watching the clip erupted in laughter, and she noted:
“…Because I respect Barbara because she’s saying be polite to guests no matter what…and for the most part I got through…I did it like I do now.” A few seconds later the real fun started.
“But here’s where they really messed up,” she told the audience and we see Joe Rogan saying “They talked about you in such a favorable light.”
Goldberg, looking straight at the camera said, “Honey, Joe, I think you missed this part.”
The part, it turns out, is where Trump went into his oft-repeated and dumb demand that Barack Obama show his birth certificate. This is, of course, completely racist and the panelists, especially Goldberg, weren’t having it.
“I want him to show his birth certificate,” Trump exclaimed, hands moving back and forth. “There’s something in that birth certificate that he doesn’t like.”
By this time everyone was speaking and it was difficult to tell who was saying what. Goldberg exclaims “Oh my God!” Then there’s a sea of voices but we hear Trump say, “Whoopi, I love you, but I’m telling you” and then Goldberg has this to say:
“I think that’s the biggest pile of dog mess I’ve heard in ages,” she tells the audience, incredulous at Trump’s ridiculous remarks. And she noted with a hint of anger, that white presidents don’t have to show their birth certificates.
Well, they don’t now do they? The birth certificate hoo-hah directed at Obama was racist hoo-hah at that. It was abhorrent. Cutting back to the present, Goldberg notes that the show welcomes people from all backgrounds but reminds us that she has never been fond of Trump.
“I’ve not been a fan of this man’s. I don’t like how he talks to us, I don’t like how he talks to the nation. So, I have not really had much to say until he started running for president. Then I could say everything I needed to say. My face said everything else.”
One of the panelists jumped in with “You disliked him even before that when you first had an encounter with him?”
“He’s been in New York forever. He’s a New York person and a New York character. But being a character on television is a lot different than being the president of the United States. Because what you can’t do, and what they did for years, which is why people got up and said ‘You can’t talk to me like this anymore. You can’t talk about me like this anymore.'”
“And people said, ‘Oh you’re woke,” and Goldberg followed up with “We have never been asleep. No one’s ever let us sleep. Because we’ve had to remind people that women don’t want to be spoken down to. Gay folks don’t want to be spoken down to. Straight people don’t want to be spoken — they don’t want to be made fun of. Get a better gig — If you’re a comic be funnier. Find a different way to come after people than their heritage, which they are born into. You are who you are.”
So as you can see, Goldberg was on her game — in the clip and in the recent segment. All of the women were. And kudos to them for being just that — on their game. Here’s the raucous clip below.
