Social Media Responds After Matt Gaetz Posts Weird Tweet About About Luigi Mangione’s Relationship Status: ‘Classic High School Girl Gossip’

Matt Gaetz has had a busy few weeks. The longtime Florida Congressman and Trump ultra-loyalist was Donald Trump’s initial choice to serve as attorney general and even resigned his Congressional seat, reportedly to block the release of a possibly scathing House Ethics Committee report into his conduct.

Gaetz ultimately withdrew from consideration for the Justice Department position, made clear that he would not try to return to Congress, and hinted about wanting to run for governor of Florida in 2026. He also launched a Cameo page and announced this week that he will begin hosting a show on One American News in early 2025.

As for that ethics report? It doesn’t look like it’s getting released- and now Democratic Rep. Susan Wild has been identified as the possible leaker of information about it.

Now, Gaetz has offered an eyebrow-raising social media message about a topic in the news: Luigi Mangione, the accused shooter of health care CEO Brian Thompson, who many people believe is an uncommonly handsome man, at least by the usual standards of accused murderers. Gaetz sent the following to his 3 million X followers:

Luigi Mangione is, in fact, single, although he’s likely going to be unavailable for dates for the foreseeable future.

Even beyond the years of rumors about his sexual exploits — which, to be clear, did not result in criminal charges when the Justice Department investigated them — Gaetz has always been more vocal than most politicians when it comes to open discussion of horniness. Once, appearing on a podcast, he even defended a longtime enemy of his, Rep. Eric Swalwell of California, in relation to the controversy in which Swalwell was befriended by an attractive woman who turned out to be a Chinese spy.

Of course, when they saw Gaetz’s message, a lot of people came up with versions of the same joke.
