Donald Trump Reportedly Celebrated Efforts To Overturn 2020 Election At A Secretive Mar-a-Lago Party

Tirump is always sneaky, so what else is new?

Donald Trump doing something disgusting isn’t news for most of us. What is disgusting is this: He celebrated efforts to overturn the 2020 election at a private party held at Mar-a-Lago Saturday night. Hosts of MSNBC’s The Weekend were beside themselves with anger over this abomination of human decency.

What’s especially upsetting here is that the President-elect lavished praise on attorney John Eastman for the way he pressured then-Vice President Mike Pence to refrain from certifying the results of the presidential vote four years ago, NBC News reported, per The Daily Beast.

As a backdrop of clips documenting Eastman’s efforts rolled on, it’s believed that Trump told party attendees, “I’m a big fan of John Eastman. Y’know, he was right. He happened to be right. That’s why they changed the law and nobody wants to talk about that.”

Then Trump reportedly said, “They said he’s not allowed to do it, he’s not allowed to do it, and they convinced him he’s not allowed to do it, our vice president, then right after the election they changed the law so he can’t do it.”

As you may remember, Trump told reporters in December that he intends to pardon rioters who took part in the Capitol attack as soon as he takes office.

Hearing this, MSNBC host Michael Steele asked his fellow panelists, “What was the sense in this room, what was the purpose of this gathering, is it just an in-your-face-moment or just a tale of things to come?”

The panelists, beginning with correspondent Vaughn Hilyard, made their sentiments clear. “Let’s be very clear, there’s no coincidence that this event in which he welcomed not only John Eastman, but Michael Flynn, and Jeffrey Clark–the man [who] urged the DoJ to put off all statements about the 2020 election–and they were up onstage, Rudy Guliani was up onstage, and Peter Navarro, who spent time for not complying with the subpoena from the Jan. 6 committee, and they were watching a film that was a documentary about John Eastman,” Hilyard replied.

Co-host Symone Sanders Townsend went ever further in her sharply pointed response, noting, “Let’s just put a finer point on it, this is sickening! This is sickening, I am sick. Peter Navarro, Jeffrey Clark, the people that went to the Capitol to take up arms against the United States government, because the president at the time lied to them, that’s what happened.”

“Those are not patriots. What Donald Trump did last night is a disgrace to the country and Constitution, and the fact that they didn’t tell anybody about it lets you know that they knew what they were doing was untoward, and they wanted to do it anyway,” she said.

Townsend is right. Trump pulled a sneaky move here. Eastman, Navarro, Michael Flynn and Jeffrey Clark and Giuliani have no idea what a true patriot is and what they’re doing here portends danger. Trump made sure this was kept secret. Who knows what he’ll do as President?

If you’re not worried about this, let me tell you, it’s time to start worrying.

Too many people don’t pay attention to what their political leaders are up to. In this case it may well come around to bite them, and us.

I’ve included the conversation in the clip below.
