Donald Trump arrived at the U.S. Capitol for his second inauguration, and the event was attended by members of Congress, a large contingent of tech CEOs, and incoming members of the cabinet.

Trump and President Biden before the event, and one thing that was noticed was Melania Trump’s outfit. Mainly, more than one person pointed out that her clothes resembled an outfit once worn by Michael Jackson:

Others noted that Melania’s outfit looked like what Jackson was wearing in the video for his 1988 single “Smooth Criminal,” although Jackson’s version of the outfit was white rather than black.

Others had non-Michael Jackson comparisons prepared:

Fox 5 in Washington, however, described Melania’s headwear as a “statement hat,” designating Eric Javits as its designer.

Melania Trump has been stepping into the spotlight since her husband’s victory, in a way she didn’t as much during Trump’s first term. She has published a memoir, and a deal was recently reached with Amazon for $40 million for Melania to be featured in a documentary project to be directed by exiled Hollywood director Brett Ratner.

Also, commenting on the return to prominence in the second Trump era? People from Melania’s home nation of Slovenia.

According to Politico, some in Slovenia object to how the story of Melania and her background has been told.

“The mischaracterization and misinterpretation of our people certainly angers those of us in Slovenia,” Srečko Ocvirk, the mayor of her hometown, told Politico. “The quality of life and level of development of our country was not represented in a factual manner.”

Also drawing attention the night before the event with a clothing choice was former Trump White House aide Kellyanne Conway, who is not expected to join the new administration, photographed the night before:
