Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) had a strange trip back to Congress this year. After winning the narrowest victory of any Congressional race in the country in 2022, Boebert faced both primary challengers on the Republican side and a challenge from the Democrat who almost beat her. And then, she was part of a scandalous moment that led to her being kicked out of a theater in Denver.
Boebert ended up switching Congressional districts and was re-elected again in November. And now, she appears to be referring to Donald Trump as her “daddy.”
On Monday, Boebert posted the new Time Magazine cover featuring Trump, and she added the caption “Daddy’s home.”

In fairness to Boebert, she was far from the only Trump supporter who used such verbiage about Trump’s return to the White House. Rep. Byron Daniels (R-FL) declared “Daddy’s back” about the inauguration. The slogan was spotted on t-shirts of various revelers celebrating the inauguration in Washington.
“People were chanting it at nearby media as they waited in line to get in the Capital One Arena, stepping over discarded camping chairs, food containers, and coffee cups that had accumulated in piles where they’d been abandoned by people waiting overnight,” reporter Logan Church said of the phrase. “It was emblazoned on stickers. Posters. T-shirts. Hoodies. Everywhere.”

Roseanne Barr, along with Canadian musician Tom MacDonald, released a pro-Trump rap song, also titled “Daddy’s Home.” There’s one verse in which Barr raps “they tried to cancel me,” with the implication that the return of Trump will prevent such things in the future. However, Barr’s firing from the reboot of her eponymous sitcom, over a racist social media post, took place in 2018, while Trump was president the first time.
Boebert, meanwhile, made news for other reasons at the inaugural balls on Monday. According to the news outlet Glam, Boebert sported “one of the most inappropriate outfits At Trump’s inauguration.”

And that wasn’t all. According to a report from the columnist known as Cockburn in the Spectator, Boebert made a faux pas at a pre-inaugural event over the weekend.
Boebert “spent a decent chunk of Saturday’s America First Policy Institute ball trying to ingratiate herself with Susie Wiles,” Trump’s White House Chief of Staff. However, the woman was not Wiles but ” just a woman from the Midwest who looks slightly like her.” The item added that Boebert was “spotted attempting to big-time her way into VIP with her sculpted himbo companion” and was spotted at another event “cutting a rug with Kid Rock.”
