Several US Allies Come To The Defense Of Ukraine After Brutal Trump-Vance Attack On Zelensky In Oval Office

Foreign leaders are taking to social media to show their support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance verbally attacked him during a press conference at the White House. Their attack was brutal and unprecedented. No diplomacy could be detected anywhere (that is sarcasm, of course, but it happens to be true.)

Trump and Vance belligerently castigated Zelensky for not kissing the president’s feet, raising their voices at him for not acquiescing quietly for “standing in the way of a peace agreement with Russia,” per CNN. The president was clearly angry, his already orange face turning red.

“You’re right now, not really in a very good position. You’ve allowed yourself to be in a very bad position,” Trump said. “You don’t have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards.”

“I’m not playing cards,” Zelensky said.

As the argument continued, Trump’s voice grew louder, and he said something that almost sounded like a veiled threat.

“You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people. You’re gambling with World War III.”

Then Vance, ever the Trump brown-noser, accused Zelensky of being “disrespectful” toward his American hosts.

“You’re not acting all that thankful,” Trump said.

“Have you said ‘thank you’ once?” Vance asked Zelensky.

With that, I certainly hope Vance collected his brownie points for the day.

It was a different scene on social media, where foreign leaders, alarmed by Trump and Vance’s disgusting behavior, expressed their support for Ukraine.

“Look at this thread… a string of US allies coming to the defense of Ukraine after brutal Trump-Vance attack on Zelensky in the Oval Office,” wrote The New Yorker’s Susan Glasser.

And indeed, foreign leaders are stepping up for Ukraine. Bless these good people for standing up.

Leaders from Poland, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Czechia, Latvia, and Lithuania, to name just a few, expressed their support.

Trump and Vance behaved shamefully. I can’t picture any other U.S. President behaving this way. Lots of other folks on social media also expressed support.

“Imagine screwing up so badly that U.S. allies feel the need to publicly defend Ukraine against the President of the United States,” wrote @suunasolkija. “Trump and Vance thought they were flexing, but all they did was remind the world that America under MAGA cannot be trusted. Absolute diplomatic trainwreck.”

Trump and Vance’s treatment of Zelensky was shameful, and it also made America an embarrassment on the world stage. Of course, this isn’t the first time this has happened under Trump’s presidency. Some may also remember that Trump tried to bribe Zelensky for information on then-candidate Joe Biden’s son, Hunter during the 2020 presidential race.

As noted by The Center for American Progress:

“The record is clear. Trump committed bribery. He committed honest services fraud. He likely engaged in a broader criminal conspiracy. He broke the law by withholding military assistance to Ukraine. And then Trump obstructed Congress to cover up his crimes.”

Trump never lets go of his grudges; this could be the case here. He’s a cruel man who will stop at nothing to get revenge. In some ways, his presidency seems like Trump 2.0, The Revenge Tour. He’s punishing federal workers, immigrants, people whose very lives depend on the agencies he’s now crippling with massive layoffs.

For shame. I don’t recognize this country anymore.
