One of the things that Trumpologists have often concentrated on is his relationship with his wife, Melania. There’s been much speculation over how close the president and first lady are and whether she truly wants any part of the political life. Such questions were raised most notably during the early part of Trump’s first presidency when his wife remained in New York, and most recently, when she has been rarely spotted at the White House, with the New York Times reporting that she’s only been seen there 14 days in Trump’s first 100 days back in Washington.
Michael Wolff, the controversial biographer who has written several books about the Trump White House, shared a theory this week about the Trump marriage- namely, that the two live separate lives.
“They clearly do not in any way inhabit a marriage as we define marriage,“ Wolff said this week on The Daily Beast’s podcast. ”And I think maybe we can more specifically say they live separate lives. They are separated. The President of the United States and the First Lady are separated.”
Michael Wolff was characteristically blunt as he lambasted Trump’s marriage, calling the president and first lady essentially “separated.” https://t.co/utWB3u29kN

Wolff went on to react to the Times piece:
“But they didn’t go and say, ‘this is obviously a marriage in trouble,’” Wolff said on the podcast. “The American public has been sold a bill of goods here that, you know, Donald Trump and his glamorous wife. That runs entirely counter to all of the facts here, including the fact that they don’t spend any time together.”
In another interview in mid-April, Wolff, in a different interview, quoted a source who claimed that Melania “hates his [expletive] guts.”

Trump has always been critical of Wolff, even more than most journalists and biographers, while challenging the veracity of his reporting. This was especially the case in Fire and Fury, Wolff’s book about the early days of the first Trump presidency. Others have questioned Wolff’s reporting, including his claim about a sealed indictment of Trump during the Robert Mueller investigation.
