Many saw this as a reference to a past scandal known as “Signal-gate,” where a private group chat on the Signal app mistakenly included a journalist during a drone strike.
But this time, there were no leaks. And somehow, that was enough for Republicans to throw a party.
AOC quickly stepped in with a message that hit hard. “This is like applauding a grown man for being able to wipe their behind,” she posted. “Not exactly a vote of confidence.” Her post spread quickly, with thousands agreeing that the praise for Hegseth was both ridiculous and embarrassing.

Others on social media joined in the mockery. One user joked, “LOL. He didn’t pee himself either! WHAT A BIG BOY!” Another said, “MAGA praising Pete for not leaking war plans again is like giving a toddler a medal for not eating glue.”

MAGA praising Pete for not leaking war plans again is like giving a toddler a medal for not eating glue—congratulations, he finally did the bare minimum.

Even some moderates admitted it was a very low bar.
One post said, “This is such an embarrassing new standard to try to celebrate.” Another added, “The Signal app was down. That’s the only reason nothing leaked.”
While Hegseth tried to make it sound like a win, his words were not helping. He called the U.S. strikes an “overwhelming success” and claimed they “devastated the Iranian nuclear program.” But experts and officials are warning of what might come next.
On Monday, Iran fired missiles at U.S. bases in Iraq and Qatar. This was Tehran’s clear response to the bombing of its nuclear sites. The Pentagon confirmed that the attacks damaged equipment and put American soldiers at risk. U.S. commanders say they believe no one was killed, but the explosions shook many.
The United Nations said the U.S. strikes caused “very significant damage” to Iran’s nuclear facilities. At the same time, UN officials warned that attacking another country without Congress’s approval risks breaking international law.
Under the U.S. Constitution, only Congress can declare war. Yet once again, President Trump acted on his own. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez reminded everyone of this, saying the strikes and the response could be “grounds for impeachment.” She stressed that no leader should make war from the Oval Office alone.
Legal experts agree. They point out that bypassing Congress not only breaks U.S. rules but also sets a dangerous global example. If every president can bomb another country on a whim, no nation is really safe.
