It’s normally said that “the face is the mirror of the mind, and eyes without speaking confess the secrets of the heart.” — St. Jerome

But for Trump, that mirror seemed to be cracking.

A strange photo of Donald Trump is all over the internet. His eyes are shut. His face looks swollen. His skin seems damaged. Some people blamed makeup. Others thought it might be a health issue.

This photo wasn’t taken at a rally or on the golf course. It was taken during a high-level meeting with five African presidents—from Liberia, Senegal, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, and Mauritania.

These countries are all in West Africa. They are full of culture, resources, and history. The U.S. has trade ties with them, and the meeting was supposed to focus on new deals, development, and peace plans.

Trump said the meeting was to support African business. He told the leaders they came from “very vibrant places with very valuable land, great minerals, great oil deposits and wonderful people.”

But that’s not what people remembered.

The internet couldn’t look away from the photo. It spread fast. People zoomed in on every detail. One user said, “He looks like he escaped from a failed wax museum.” Another wrote, “That sun 😭😭😭 eating him alive.”

Things got more serious when people started pointing out health concerns. “His skin, under the makeup, looks almost like he has “liver burns”,” someone posted. “They look kind of like freckles, but are a symptom of liver or pancreatic cancers.”

One woman tweeted, “He wears more makeup in a day than I do in a year.” Another joked, “He didn’t have JD Vance there to fix him. Big mistake.”

Trump has always cared about his look. Orange skin. Neat hair. Cameras everywhere. His appearance is part of his image. But this time, the camera showed something different.

Several X users pointed out signs of aging and weakness.
