Just 40 percent of Americans approve of Donald Trump’s job as president, compared to 58 percent who disapprove, according to polling data that was released this week by AP/NORC.
The poll asked about Trump’s handling of several different issues, and the reaction is negative on every issue. Trump’s approval rating is 43 percent on immigration, 42 percent on natural disaster relief, 42 percent on “the situation in the Middle East,” 41 percent on taxes, 38 percent on the economy, 38 percent on government spending, 37 percent on “trade negotiations with other countries,” and 34 percent on health care.
“Racial communities have differing perspectives on whether Trump’s policies have helped or harmed. Few Black adults or Hispanic adults think Trump’s policies have helped them compared with about a third of white adults. Seven in 10 Black adults and 6 in 10 Hispanic adults feel Trump’s policies to date have done more harm than good for them personally,” AP-NORC added.

In addition, according to the AP/NORC release, “People are more likely to say Donald Trump’s policies have done more to hurt than to help them since his second term began. While most consider the president as least somewhat effective at getting things done, fewer think he understands their problems.”
When it comes to Trump’s overall approval rating, the latest RealClearPolling average has Trump at a disapproval rating of 51.2 percent and an approval rating of 45.7 percent, with a spread of 5.5 percent. It’s the worst standing in that average for Trump since mid-June, and only slightly better than Trump’s second-term low of a 7.1 percent disapproval spread.

Per the RealClearPolling average, nearly every recent poll in July has Trump in negative territory, including a Reuters/Ipsos poll that has the president at -13, and a recent Economist/YouGov poll that places him at -11. The most recent Rasmussen Reports poll has Trump even.
However, as pointed out by Harry Enten on CNN this week, Trump’s approval rating remains very high among Republicans, even after the last two weeks of bad headlines related to Jeffrey Epstein.
X isn’t real life. Post-Epstein saga, Trump’s approval with the GOP (~90%) may actually be slightly up. He’s at/or near his apex w/ the GOP.
How? Just 1 respondent said Epstein was the top problem facing the U.S.
Cong Dems, OTOH, are at their worst standing with Dems ever. pic.twitter.com/pSMH4BQ8Ou
