Last week, former National Security Adviser and frequent Trump critic John Bolton had his house raided, with Fox News reporting that the case involves both the question of whether he had used classified information in the preparation of his memoir, as well as possibly other matters.
Earlier this week, Bolton published an op-ed for the Washington Examiner, where he did not talk about the raid, but did slam the president’s Ukraine policy, which he denounced as “incoherent,” and likely as part of Trump’s doomed quest to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Donald Trump’s Ukraine policy today is no more coherent than it was last Friday when his administration executed search warrants against my home and office. Collapsing in confusion and haste, Trump’s negotiations may be in their last throes, along with his Nobel Peace Prize…

“Trump’s furious pace trying to move an extraordinarily complex conflict to resolution over the past two weeks was one of several significant mistakes. It inevitably made reaching an agreement on a ceasefire, let alone a full-scale peace agreement, more difficult. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff met with Putin in Moscow on Aug. 8 and immediately returned to Washington to inform Trump, among other things, that Putin wished to meet with him,” Bolton writes. “Two days later, Trump announced the requested summit (soon thereafter revealed to be held in Alaska) would occur one week later, on Aug. 15. Trump noted that he wished the meeting could have been held even sooner, but it is almost surely unprecedented in modern history that a summit between leaders of two major powers on such a contentious issue has been arranged so expeditiously.”

Trump has made it clear that he would like to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and has been nominated for the prize this year by various world leaders and Republican elected officials.
Bolton, on X, also shared a clip of William Hague, a British politician, describing the timing of the raid as “suspicious”:
“That is a potential encroachment on freedom of speech and liberty.”
It’s “suspicious” that John Bolton faced an FBI raid after criticizing Trump, says William Hague. @RosieWright99 | @AlexisConran pic.twitter.com/rkJxwyHbh2

Bolton had also posted about Trump’s Russia policies shortly after the raid, although it’s not clear whether or not that post was pre-scheduled, the New York Post reported.
