Barron Trump, the youngest son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, has quietly made a big change in his college plans.
After completing his first year at NYU’s Stern School of Business in Manhattan, Barron has shifted to the university’s Washington, D.C. campus and is now staying at the White House with his parents.
Many people expected Barron to go back to his classes in New York this fall, but he was nowhere to be seen. Reports say that he is now part of the much smaller D.C. program, which only has about 120 students. This campus focuses on politics, history, journalism, public policy, and other fields linked to Washington. Students there also get access to internships with government offices, nonprofits, and groups based in the city.
This change also means Barron gets to spend more time with his family. Over the summer, he kept away from the public eye. Sources told People that he used the break to think about his future business plans, spend time with family, and travel between Trump properties. One source said Barron “has been actively working on his own financial interests.”

Barron has always kept a very private life. Unlike his father and older siblings, he has no social media and rarely appears in public. During his freshman year in New York, students said he mostly went to class and then back home, keeping to himself. One student even described him as “an oddity on campus” because he stayed so quiet.
His move to Washington also links with his mother’s current work. At a White House meeting on AI education, Education Secretary Linda McMahon even joked that Barron might be helping Melania with her AI projects. Melania smiled and nodded, giving the impression that Barron is indeed using his skills to help.
President Trump has also praised Barron’s tech talent. In an interview, Trump said his son has an “unbelievable aptitude in technology,” adding that Barron often outsmarts him with computers and laptops. Trump has suggested that Barron might follow a more modern career in technology instead of politics or traditional business.
Barron has also been linked to the Trump family’s cryptocurrency project, World Liberty Financial. He reportedly helped his father understand the basics of digital currency. Forbes even estimated that Barron could have already made around $25 million from the family’s crypto venture.
