U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham is deeply unpopular in his state, so much so that his Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison has outperformed the Republican for the first time in the race over the initial three months of 2020, according to The Post and Courier. It seems that just about every Republican that aligns themselves with Donald Trump ends up with their careers in jeopardy.
The news outlet reports that Jamie Harrison brought in $7.36 million in fundraising dollars. In contrast, Graham brought in $5.6 million in donations, and that means that both of them easily outpaced the single-quarter state record of $3.9 million that Graham set at the end of 2019. It certainly sounds like both sides have a dedicated base and purpose, but Graham seems to think his main task in life is to grovel at Donald Trump’s feet.
Graham’s campaign war chest is more substantial at $12.8 million, with Harrison’s at $8 million. The race is set to become by far the most expensive campaigns in South Carolina history.
But Harrison had a little help today in garnering donations from a powerful woman.
Incredible news: @HarrisonJaime has outraised Lindsey Graham in his race to replace Graham in the Senate—the first time Graham has been outraised in his entire career.
Let’s keep it going and flip the Senate.https://t.co/Q6QbX0wBjh

Ohhhh.
Harrison campaign spokesperson Guy King responded to the hefty haul of donations.
We’re so grateful for this outpouring of support from everyday people who are looking for leadership that puts them first,” King said.
Scott Farmer, Graham’s campaign manager, tried to blame the lack of donations on a decision to cancel fundraisers during the Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump and to suspend his fundraising operations for the final two weeks of the quarter as the coronavirus pandemic spread, according to the outlet.
“South Carolinians clearly appreciate Sen. Graham’s steadfast leadership, conservative record of accomplishment, and relentless work on behalf of his constituents,” Farmer said.
Yeah, OK, dude. You be you.
Graham’s unfavorable polls show the South Carolina Republican to be in troubled waters in the red state. We’re going to go out on a limb here to suggest that sucking up to the least popular president in the history of polling is probably a bad idea. Also, it’s kind of gross to watch, Linds. Maybe watching is Lindsey’s thing, I don’t know. But it’s not mine.
