Six siblings of Republican Rep. Paul Gosar were featured in an ad in 2018 to ask voters to support their brother’s opponent. Gosar was reelected anyway, and now he’s being scrutinized over any role he played leading up to the deadly insurrection at the Capitol last week.
Weeks before a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, right-wing activist Ali Alexander who organized the “stop the steal” movement told his followers he was planning something big for Jan. 6 – and he said he hatched the plan with three GOP lawmakers: Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Mo Brooks (Ala.), and Paul A. Gosar (Ariz.).
“We four schemed up of putting maximum pressure on Congress while they were voting,” Alexander said, adding that they planned to “change the hearts and the minds of Republicans who were in that body, hearing our loud roar from outside.”
Two of Gosar’s siblings are back, appearing on CNN to urge for his removal from Congress. Three of his siblings also sent a letter to Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) asking for his help in removing their brother from Congress, The Arizona Republic reports.

Jennifer Gosar explained why she believes that her brother played a role leading to the deadly riots.
“There have been numerous reports, you know, at least at the moment, that show he was in contact regularly with Ali Alexander,” she said. “He was there and spoke at the rally beforehand. He was there contesting the election on the congressional floor.”
Tim Gosar then described his brother’s extremist views.
“I’d harken people back to the start of his congressional career where he was a birther, where he was saying that President Obama was an illegitimate president and not a U.S. citizen,” he said. “He called the pope a leftist politician… he said that George Soros was a Nazi sympathizer and gave up his people to the Nazis.”
Tim Gosar went on to say that his brother “peddles in rumor, he peddles in propaganda, and he lies consistently to the American people.”

Any role that Gosar played or any other Republican lawmaker will come out in the wash after Trump supporters appeared to be hunting down Democratic congress members and the Republican vice-president. And that’s kind of a big deal.
