Donald Trump appeared on the far-right outlet One America News to once again criticize President Biden, and the twice-impeached one-term president bragged about how he would have done a better job in Afghanistan. But, with everything else that the former president says, he left a great deal out.
For example, as recently as April 18, the former president said: “Getting out of Afghanistan is a wonderful and positive thing to do. I planned to withdraw on May 1st, and we should keep as close to that schedule as possible.”
And then, on June 26, he bragged: “I started the process. All the troops are coming back home. They couldn’t stop the process. Twenty-one years is enough, don’t we think?”
It’s almost as if Trump thinks we don’t have a memory. Though, admittedly, voters don’t always have good memories when they hit the ballot box. On OAN, speaking to Sharyl Attkisson, Trump said that we could have “taken our time” in Afghanistan, even though he wanted to bring the troops home sooner than Biden did. Trump said that “when they [the Taliban] didn’t meet the conditions,” he bombed them. But, of course, Trump conveniently forgets that in his administration’s negotiations with the Taliban, he agreed to release 5,000 of their prisoners, one of which is now one of the leaders of the extremist group.
“We had it perfectly — perfectly — in control,” Trump insisted. “We could have taken our time. It was after I got out with a rigged election, as soon as I got out [the Taliban] started taking over.”

Meanwhile, Trump literally tried to incite war on Jan. 6 when a mob of his unruly supporters attacked the Capitol simply because he sustained a massive narcissistic injury in November, and refused to admit that he lost the election to President Joe Biden. But, sure, that’s the guy that would have done a better job at keeping the peace in the war-torn region.
