It’s evident that Donald Trump saw President Joe Biden give the former President a public ass whooping in his speech on Thursday as he called him out on the anniversary of the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection over his “web of lies.”
The twice-impeached one-term President quickly went off the rails after Biden called him out, and of course, the former President’s statement was laced with lies. And Trump has sent out more statements since his initial one. He obviously sustained a narcissistic injury when his successor gave him a public spanking over his appalling behavior. Biden’s powerful speech hit the former guy hard.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked by a reporter about Trump’s reaction in which he dismissed the President’s speech as “political theater.”
Well, it looks like he saw the speech. I guess that’s good news,” Psaki said. “Maybe he learned something about what it looks like to meet the moment in the country. To meet the moment where people are hurting, they are thinking of the pain, all of the people who worked in that Capitol who were there a year ago.”

“Whether they were members of Congress, their staff, janitors or journalists. And to speak to who we can be and call for people’s higher powers to reach that,” she added. “Maybe he learned something from that. I guess we’ll see.”

I honestly don’t think the former President can learn from his mistakes. After all, he still can’t admit that he was defeated in the electoral and popular votes well over a year ago. Trump’s bungled response to the coronavirus led to deaths; his lies did as well. Trump’s had over a year to deal with this failure to secure a second term, and he still can’t deal with reality. Seven hundred thirty-seven individuals have been charged after he incited an attack on U.S. soil. At least 140 police officers were injured, and his supporters still have their heads in the sand. He will never change.
