Multiple recent developments coming out of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s investigation into the infamous Trump/Stormy Daniels hush money payments have indicated that an official felony indictment against the scandal-ridden, corrupt former president is actively in the works and will soon be formally lodged against Donald Trump in the very near future.
According to one legal expert, that could very well be as soon as tomorrow.
Former Justice Department prosecutor and FBI general counsel Andrew Weissmann has spoken up amid this week’s neverending series of bombshell developments in the case and explained that, while it can’t be said with any certainty at this point, there is a very real possibility that an official Trump indictment could be handed down within the next 24-36 hours.
As we reported yesterday, Donald Trump’s former personal attorney and self-described “fixer” Michael Cohen appeared before the Manhattan grand jury this week, as the final witness, in what many believe to be the last step before official charges are lodged against the former president in the ongoing Stormy Daniels hush money investigation. Cohen made an appearance before the jury almost all day on Monday and will return again tomorrow, as jurors work to put the pieces of the crime together with testimonies they’ve received from other witnesses, like Kellyanne Conway and Hope Hicks.

“Something else happened today that makes it, I think, even more imminent,” Weissmann amid the neverending stream of news regarding the Manhattan hush money case. “But what I’m getting at is — the thing I was looking for is that we are hearing that defense counsel for Donald Trump went and made a presentation to the prosecutors. Because that’s something that is really routine, any sort of ethical, responsible prosecutor is going to give that opportunity and, frankly, any good defense lawyer is going to take that opportunity. And The New York Times reported that that meeting has occurred already. And the import of that is, I think, when the grand jury presentation is over, it is Alvin Bragg’s decision at that point and there is nothing left. So frankly, that could even be Wednesday, just to put everyone on alert.”
At that point, MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell interjected, “Wait, hold it. I have to change my schedule here.”
Weissmann went on to explain there is a very real possibility that, following the final witness testimony, the Manhattan grand jury could very well decide right then and there whether they will be voting in favor of moving forward with any indictments.
However, the legal expert did note that Cohen is not expected to appear before the jury until tomorrow afternoon. Depending on the length of the former Trump attorney’s testimony, and the time of day when he’s finished, the jury could opt to adjourn for the remainder of the day and reconvene Monday, March 20th.
“If this was a federal court absolutely you can go ahead and do that,” Weissmann stated. “Do I think it is more likely that they would do that after the prosecutors have an opportunity to talk to the grand jurors, answer questions they might have, go through the law, present the proposed charges? Do I think it will happen on Wednesday? No, especially after hearing that he’s appearing in the afternoon, so it doesn’t get in the way. I think the next day to sit is the following Monday.”
But the possibility is very much there.
