For the second time in history now, scandal-plagued former President Donald J. Trump has been formally indicted on a variety of criminal charges.
Just mere weeks ago, American history was made with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg formally indicted Donald Trump on multiple criminal charges related to the infamous Stormy Daniels hush money scheme — the very first time in United States history that a sitting or former US president has been officially indicted for a crime.
In the days and weeks since, Trump’s legal woes have only gotten worse, as numerous other probes, lawsuits, and investigations raged against him, including those conducted by Garland-appointed DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Smith, on behalf of the Biden DOJ, has been investigating the former president for his role in inciting the January 6th Capitol insurrection, his attempt to overthrow the 2020 presidential election after his loss to Joe Biden, and the infamous stolen Mar-a-Lago document scandal, in which Donald Trump stole classified government documents at the end of his presidency, relocated the material to his Palm Beach compound, where he hid them, lied about his possession of the materials, and repeatedly refused to comply with government requests and subpoenas for their return.

While Smith’s former investigations are still ongoing, multiple reports have confirmed that, as of yesterday evening, ex-President Donald J. Trump has been formally indicted on 7 different charges in relation to the infamous document investigation.
As it stands, the specific charges against Trump have not been released. We only know that the indictment is in direct relation to stealing the documents and obstructing the subsequent investigation.
Now, it seems that Trump’s fear, panic, and desperation have finally hit a fever pitch, as he’s throwing in an 11th-hour Hail Mary shake-up to his legal team.
The former president is slated to appear in a Miami court next week, where he will face his arraignment on the federal charges lodged against him by Smith and the DOJ — with new attorneys outfitting his legal team.
According to announcements from both the attorneys as well as Trump himself, former lawyers for the ex-president, Jim Trusty and John Rowley, have officially resigned from the Trump legal team. They are set to be replaced by Todd Blanche, who resigned from his position at an elite firm to represent Trump in the New York fraud case, Chris Kise, and a third new attorney who has not yet been announced.
Trump personally confirmed the shake-up in a post on his Truth Social platform:
For purposes of fighting the Greatest Witch Hunt of all time, now moving to the Florida Courts, I will be represented by Todd Blanche, Esq., and a firm to be named later. I want to thank Jim Trusty and John Rowley for their work, but they were up against a very dishonest, corrupt, evil, and ‘sick’ group of people, the likes of which has not been seen before. We will be announcing additional lawyers in the coming days. When will Joe Biden be Indicted for his many crimes against our Nation? MAGA!”
Trusty and Rowley released a joint statement, confirming: “This morning we tendered our resignations as counsel to President Trump, and we will no longer represent him on either the indicted case or the January 6 investigation.”
Trump made it clear in a recent Fox News interview that he would be pleading not guilty to the charges lodged against him in the Special Counsel document investigation.
