One former judge has publicly spoken out with a stark and clear warning for Donald Trump: You better pack your toothbrush, because you’re soon to be sitting in a jail cell.
Retired California Superior Court Judge LaDoris Hazzard Cordell delivered this cold, hard notice to the scandal-plagued former president during an appearance on CNN over the weekend, when she was questioned about Trump’s ongoing attacks against not only the judge, but also the judge’s family and, most specifically, his daughter, who is overseeing his New York criminal hush money case, despite a somewhat narrow gag order against the former president already being in place.
In one particularly horrifying incident over Easter weekend, former President Trump posted multiple photos of New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan’s daughter to his Truth Social platform.
In her interview with CNN, former Judge Cordell said Trump, “just like a child, has to be told what he cannot do no matter how obvious like, you don’t threaten people, you don’t threaten judges, you don’t threaten family members.”

“So Judge Merchan I believe should immediately expand the gag order to include himself and his family members and include D.A. Bragg and his family members,” she went on to add. “I tell you I fail to understand why judges do not include themselves and their family members in these gag orders. They haven’t done so. Their lives and the lives of their families have been subjected to death threats, all because of Donald Trump’s words, and that kind of speech is not protected by the First Amendment.”
Eventually, the CNN host asks Cordell what happens not if, but “when” Donald Trump violates the gag order against him.
“When and not if, I think you’re right, Omar, when he steps across that gag order line, and I do hope it will be expanded,” Cordell responded, adding that she has “only one response: bring your toothbrush, Donald Trump, because you’re going to sit in a jail cell for a while.”
She went on to say that “there has to be an immediate consequence when he defies a court order.”
“That is a normal response, you can not have a court system that is subjected to these kinds of threats and intimidation.”
