An active shooter opened fire at Emory College on Friday afternoon, raining bullets near students’ apartments in Atlanta, Georgia.
Terrified students were told to RUN, HIDE, FIGHT after gunfire broke out near several buildings, including a CVS pharmacy close to campus. Bullet holes were even spotted in the walls of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) headquarters, which sits near the university.

The shooter’s identity remains unknown. Police have not said if anyone was hurt or what the target might have been. Witnesses say multiple gunshots rang out just steps from student housing. One student, inside their apartment, recorded a video where the sharp cracks of gunfire were clearly audible.

The university sent an emergency alert around 4 p.m., warning students to avoid the CVS and the surrounding area. Officers quickly sealed off parts of the campus and surrounding streets.
Dozens of police vehicles swarmed Emory, sirens echoing through the area. The scene has been tense, with students hiding in classrooms, dorm rooms, and offices while law enforcement searched every corner.
The campus remains in lockdown as officers track the gunman’s movements. Authorities are urging everyone to stay away until the all-clear is given.
