Multiple people were shot at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, on Sunday morning. Police said the shooter is down, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The attack happened at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on McCandlish Road, about 50 miles north of Detroit. The church was on fire after the shooting, and first responders rushed to treat the wounded and evacuate church members.

Police posted on social media: “There has been an active shooter at the Church of Latter-day Saints on McCandlish Rd. There are multiple victims, and the shooter is down.”

The exact number of victims and their conditions have not been released. Authorities are still investigating the shooter’s motives and gathering evidence.

The Grand Blanc shooting comes after a violent weekend in the U.S. Hours earlier, a man opened fire from a boat into a crowd at a waterfront bar in Southport, North Carolina. 3 people were killed, and at least 8 others were wounded. Investigators identified the suspect as Nigel Max Edge from nearby Oak Island.

Other shootings happened over the same weekend. In South Texas, 7 people were shot at a casino, two of whom died. In New Orleans, a woman was killed and three others were wounded on Bourbon Street.

This is a developing story. More updates to come
