New York City Police Officer Thomas Webster lost it in court recently and literally sobbed big, fat crocodile tears as Judge Amit Mehta handed down the most brutal sentencing a January 6th Capitol rioter has seen to date. Webster was officially ordered to serve a total of 10 years in prison after the judge included the level 4 sentence enhancement that added 6.25 years to his sentence after he violently beat a Capitol Police officer during the deadly January 6th insurrection.
Webster’s 10-year sentence is 7 years less than the 17-year sentence prosecutors were pushing for.
“I just wish the events of Jan. 6 didn’t happen,” the former NYPD officer cried in the courtroom as he went on to whine about how his children have disowned him and how much he regrets even showing up to the Capitol on that fateful day.
“Perhaps our country would not be as divided as it is today” if the January 6th Capitol attack never took place, Webster claimed before adding that the humiliation and shame he has experienced over this has been worse than any prison sentence he could be given. He then closed his remarks by saying, “I’m sorry.”
People who watched the sentencing unfold in the courtroom reported that Webster’s victim, a Capitol Police officer, was present in the room. Webster did not apologize specifically to the officer he violently assaulted.

Webster tried to blame his actions on a “fight or flight scenario” during the January 6th Capitol attack that he says led him to assault the officer. But Judge Mehta was having no part of it.
“I’m terribly sorry for all of it,” the judge said, “but Jan. 6 was not just one day or moment in time. It is a day that continues to affect the very fabric of this country and the lives of real human beings, Americans.”
“What you did that day is really hard to put into words,” Mehta went on with an audible sigh before telling the court that he has reviewed the footage multiple times and remains shocked, not by what Webster did, but by “who he is.”
“No doubt about it. You were the one, with extraordinary force, who pulled the officer down,” the judge noted of Webster’s actions that resulted in the officer being injured. “And when the barriers opened, nobody pushed you forward. You ran. You charged ahead.”
Webster was absolutely shattered by the 10-year sentence — the harshest any Capitol rioter has seen thus far — but Americans had no sympathy:
He got off easy for what he did and lying on the stand.

An ex cop in federal prison isn’t gonna have a good time. 😂😂

Trump’s DOJ favored sending inmates to federal prisons far from their home to maximize isolation from home and family. It would only be just for them to do the same here.
